PRESS RELEASE
SOURCE: Commission for Taxi Regulation
The Commission for Taxi Regulation believes that a lower drink drive limit should be welcomed in the context of the Small Public Service Vehicle industry.
Commissioner for Taxi Regulation, Kathleen Doyle said; "There are 27,000 small public service vehicles (SPSVs) available nationally, which includes taxis, hackneys and limousines. Dispatch operators are also available to the public to book taxis and hackneys in advance of their journey. This public transport is the only transport available from door to door 365 days a year 24 hours per day and can provide the necessary transport in particular to events where people socialise with alcohol."
The Commission continues to work closely with the Road Safety Authority to repeat the message "Never Drink and Drive".
